In order to own a html domain you purchase it. What must you do to build and own a droid and iphone app?
I own a website. Before any work was complete you must register your domain name for the website so that you own it. I am now looking to create a app for both the iphone and droid. How do I go about purchasing the rights to own my own application? I’m about to take my idea to a developer but want to know I own it before I go about anything.
Yes, you do not have anything to ‘own’.
With computer software, you will find it impossible (in most circumstances) to patent ‘what it does’. You can only patent and copyright ‘how it does it’. These protections will be targeting your specific code.
Before negotiating with any developers, make sure they sign nondisclosure and noncompeting agreements. This will give you recourse if they do steal your ideas. Contact a local lawyer for more information on the best way to protect your interests in your area.
For example, you can not patent online auctions. But, eBay’s code may have specific processes that are patentable. As well as the entire code being copyrightable.
